From Miami to the Met Steps

The first Monday in May marks the Met Gala. This year’s theme: Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. 10 years ago Lewis Hamilton made his first appearance on the Met steps and now he’s a co-chair. We’re not surprised, he brings fashion to Formula 1 and his looks never miss. Throughout the years he’s made history particularly, in 2021 when he purchased a table for up and coming black designers.

Onto Lewis Hamilton’s look. Lewis wore a custom collaborative design with Wales Boner, rich in history. His silk ivory suit which ‘denotes purity’ was paired with a custom broach, beret and a pair of black Manolo’s. Hamilton’s sash featured cowrie shells, a protective talisman in African culture. Eric McNeal who styled Hamilton said ‘Lewis really wanted there to be a reason and a story behind every detail’.

Lewis didn’t disappoint with his look, we already knew it would be fantastic before he went on to the carpet.

F1 and the Met Gala have merged many times including, Lewis’ many looks and Daniel Ricardo’s 2023 appearance. This year Damson Idris, star in the F1 movie, premiering June 27, pulled up in an F1 car! What an entrance! His first look was a Tommy Hilfiger race suit paired with a Swarovski helmet. But after a grand reveal there was a red Tommy Hilfiger suit underneath.
