Race 10: Canada

George had a better launch than Max and Championship leader, Oscar Piastri lost P3 to Kimi Antonelli on the first lap. Even though, he didn’t have the best start with DRS enabled, Max was able to keep within a second of George.

Max Verstappen came in for an early pit stop on lap 13 which Russell quickly reacted to in order to cover the undercut. Lando began picking up his pace to overtake Hamilton for P2.

Lap 21 Alex Albon was told to pit but he had pushed hard, so he refused. His tyres were wearing quickly so he was overtaken, left, right and centre. He then came into the pits to trade his worn mediums for hards. Lap 27 after pitting Russell was climbing up the ranks and overtook Leclerc for P2, he then started hunting down Norris.

Lap 36 Gasly was told to swap positions with Colapinto, to see if Franco could have a snap at those in front. Max pitted and then Kimi reacted, but by using the undercut Max came out in front of Kimi.

Lap 45 a DRS train was formed from P14 to P19. On lap 49 there was a yellow flag because Alex Albon pulled into an escape road and retired from the race. Unfortunately it was a race that just didn’t go his way. The stewards handed homeboy Lance Stroll a 10 second penalty for forcing Pierre Gasly off the track. Liam Lawson became our second driver to retire from the race on lap 56.

With 3 laps to go the McLaren’s were battling it out, going wheel to wheel. Going back and forth through corners. On the straight Lando was behind Oscar and he thought he saw a gap to overtake but unfortunately it wasn’t a big enough one, Lando hit the wall and lost his front wing. Consequently the last few laps were under a safety car.

George Russell won the Canadian GP and his teammate Kimi Antonelli became the 3rd youngest driver to stand on the podium.

Top 10: Russell, Verstappen, Antonelli, Piastri, Leclerc, Hamilton, Alonso, Hulkenberg, Ocon, Sainz.
